Historic Spokane’s “Age of Elegance”

Enjoy a tour of the rich history, historic homes and attractions of Spokane. Learn about the Native Americans that first discovered this area and where the city began as we travel along the Spokane River, view the Spokane Falls and the grounds of the former Expo '74 site, now Riverfront Park. Discover Manito Park while strolling through the formal French Renaissance gardens, Perennial Gardens, Rose Gardens, authentic Japanese Gardens, and flower-filled Conservatory. Trip Advisor’s Travelers Choice Awards rated Manito Park “One of the Top 25 Parks in the US”. See the historic area of Browne's Addition where many of the old mansions, built by the wealthy, in the late 1800’s, have been restored to their original splendor. Stop at Bing Crosby’s childhood home to see the largest public collection of Crosby’s memorabilia in the US.  His home is located on the Gonzaga University campus.

Wednesday, August 3rd

An Afternoon of Wine Tasting

Meet our local wine guide for an enjoyable afternoon of wine tasting.  Start at Barrister Winery – located in a historic brick building in an alley, it was started by two lawyers in 2001 and they have been winning awards around the world ever since! When available, tour the barrel room downstairs and learn how the railroad tracks over head help the barrel ageing process. Next to Terra Blanca Winery, located in the historic Chronicle Building. Their wines come from the famed Red Mountain AVA Region in SE Washington and they offer acclaimed reds, whites and dessert wines. In-between the wineries, your guide will talk about the wine industry, wineries and tell interesting and colorful stories about Spokane’s boon days in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

Time: 1:30pm – 4:00pm.
Includes: Transportation, guide and wine tasting at two wineries.
Cost: $88.00

 

Thursday, August 4th

The Centennial Trail Scenic River Walk

Meet your guide and walk the Centennial Trail which follows the Spokane River.  Venture under the Monroe Street Bridge for an up close look at the picturesque Spokane Falls, wander through the hip Kendall Yards and stop for a donut at Hello Sugar, then see beautiful Riverside State Park with the raging river and unique rock formations.  Great photo ops along the way!

Time: 9:30am – 11:30am 
Includes: Guide for the walk and donuts.
Cost: $18.00
